To bring attention to the issue of homelessness, this cart is designed to be a visible challenge to stereotypes. It will confront the community by becoming a form of art that will ENGAGE people to not only recognize homelessness, but become involved with it. Most importantly, the cart will FUNCTION for the everyday uses of the owner. It will provide a means to transport items both in public and private along with functioning as a sheltered bed when needed. The owners will be involved from the beginning to make the cart their own. Whether it is through working with an artist to CAPTURE the homeless individual’s story, or allowing the owner to tell their own, the carts will become individualized works of art.
