Steel Competition

The siting for this student center created a particular challenge. The site was outside of the main quad on Lawrence Tech's campus. The response was to reach back into the heart of the campus with a student bridge. Along with the bridge, the main hall becomes a tectonic expression of steel's capabilities, both structurally and aesthetically, as it extracts the topography of the existing site into a floating roof plane.
